The head of Italy’s big business association Carlo Bonomi has given a rousing and emotional speech criticising the anti-establishment government before an audience including finance minister Giovanni Tria and Claudio Borghi, the Eurosceptic adviser to deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini.
The speech by Mr Bonomi, head of Assolombarda, is one of the most damning public critiques of the government since it agreed an expansionary budget which has sent spreads of 10 year Italian bonds over German Bund near to five-year highs of more than 3.05 percentage points.
